PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd. (PETRONAS Canada) is pleased to share that it has completed its 2025 re‑verification under Equitable Origin’s EO100™ Standard for Energy Development, marking the company’s strongest performance to date under the rigorous requirements of the certification.
This outcome reflects years of sustained effort across the organization to embed environmental, social and governance practices into how teams plan, operate and engage with local communities and stakeholders. This focus supports PETRONAS Canada’s role as a key supplier of natural gas to LNG Canada and its approach to developing natural gas for domestic and international markets, informed by robust governance and independent standards.

Since achieving initial certification in 2023, PETRONAS Canada has demonstrated continuous improvement across all five EO100™ principles, including corporate governance, human rights, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, labour practices, and environmental stewardship.
A key area of improvement recognized in the 2025 re‑verification was PETRONAS Canada’s environmental performance and methane emissions management. The assessment highlighted the company’s advanced methane reporting practices, including Level 5 reporting under the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), meaningful methane intensity reductions year-over-year and alignment with broader corporate climate ambitions. Together, these outcomes reflect a deliberate focus on continuous improvement – from strengthening governance and environmental management systems, to integrating climate and biodiversity considerations into day‑to‑day operational decision‑making.
